Fed: Liberal leader backs Labor's super lead

New South Wales Opposition leader JOHN BROGDEN says he too will cut his superannuation
entitlements should he win office, following federal Labor leader MARK LATHAM.

The move would cut the state Liberal leader's potential entitlements from up to 80
per cent of his base salary to nine per cent -- the same as most other public servants.

But Premier BOB CARR has been silent on the issue, avoiding questions at a media conference
today.

The NSW Greens say Labor would be hypocritical if its federal leader Mr LATHAM relinquished
his generous commonwealth entitlements but state leader Mr CARR maintained the generous
state scheme.

Mr LATHAM has pledged to wind down the generous superannuation scheme for all federal
MPs, including forgoing up to $1.9 million of his own entitlements.
